SAY NO TO FOREIGN OIL.

AMSOIL is an American company selling American products.

AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants Will:

Save Money

Improve performance

Reduce friction

Increase fuel mileage up to 3 - 15% (8% typical)

Increase equipment life 2 to 3 times

Increase productivity with fewer repairs

Reduce engine temperature for greater reliability

Extend oil change intervals to 25,000 miles and beyond.

When you use extremely high quality additives that don't break down, 7 different synthetic base stocks that don't cause gum, sludge, and other contaminates to form AND you keep the oil "squeeky clean" at all times (backed by oil analysis) you really don't need to change the oil!

  •       Reduce oil consumption as much as 42% or more

     •        Reduce necessity of frequent oil disposal

AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants will save you money and give you the peace of mind that comes from using the best. Today's engines produce more power from a smaller radiator and a smaller volume of oil to cool and lubricate them. They need more protection from heat than conventional oils give them. Conventional oils keep engines from failing most of the time, but there's a big difference between marginal failure prevention and the total wear protection that AMSOIL delivers!

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic Motor Oils are value based and are the most cost effective lubricants on the market today. Immediately notice an increase in power and gas mileage. Your engine and transmission will run smoother and sound quieter. SAVE MONEY on fuel and maintenance costs.

In 1972 AMSOIL, developed the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet American Petroleum Institute Service requirements. Currently, the AMSOIL product line includes the finest quality synthetic motor oils, synthetic diesel oils, gear lubes, synthetic greases, industrial lubricants, oil filters, air filters and automotive performance product.

AMSOIL Premium Synthetic Motor Oil and Lubricants provide optimum performance for your cars, trucks, SUV's, motorcycles, boats, 2 cycle, equipment and machinery.

AMSOIL Synthetic Oils and Lubricants also provide the best protection for your investment, extend equipment life, lower operating and fuel costs, and provide environmentally friendly solutions.

AMSOIL formulates the widest selection of synthetic oils and lubricants available for all types of automotive, diesel, racing, fleet, marine, farm and agricultural, 2 cycle and industrial applications. AMSOIL has developed sophisticated, high performance nanofiber oil filters, bypass oil filters, nanofiber reusable air filters, gasoline and diesel fuel additives and other companion products that extend equipment life and lubricant performance.

3000 mile oil changes are under attack.

The 3000 mile oil change interval has been ingrained in the American consciousness for decades. Conventional motor oil companies aggressively push it, oil change centers remind their customers to return when another 3000 miles have accumulated on the odometer and fathers teach their children to change their oil and filter according to a 3000 mile schedule.

Vehicle Manufacturers
Vehicle manufacturers, on the other hand, aren’t quite on the same page. A look at many recent model owners manuals reveals a recommended 5000 to 7500 mile oil drain interval, while European vehicle manufacturers recommend even longer drain intervals. As the service lives of spark plugs and transmission fluids have increased, consumers have demanded longer service intervals for motor oil as well. The introduction of electronic oil life monitors on modern vehicles is beginning to push drain intervals upward. Oil life monitors typically determine when oil should be changed based on engine operating conditions such as temperature, revolutions and speed.

Almost all 2005 and later General Motors vehicles are equipped with its Oil Life System, which makes use of a color-coded system to alert the driver when it’s time to change the oil. A “yellow” condition indicates that it’s time to think about changing the oil, while a “red” condition indicates that the oil is past its service life. According to GM, the typical drain interval for vehicles equipped with the Oil Life System is 8,500 miles, which will result in a savings of 6.6 million gallons of oil and $145 million for 2005 model-year drivers over the lives of their vehicles.

General Motors is actively seeking to extend oil drain intervals even further. In fact, the company recently asserted that 20,000 mile oil drain intervals are possible with existing engine technology and synthetic oils meeting current specifications, while 30,000 mile oil change intervals are achievable with appropriate motor oil quality and minor engine modifications.

“Drain intervals are a very specific goal for GM, and are being managed in a logical and planned fashion,” says James A Spearot, director of GM’s Chemical & Environmental Sciences Laboratory in Warren, Mich. “Longer drain intervals are desirable to meet customer demands for reduced maintenance and convenience, and for the environmental benefits that come with less oil handling. And, in the end, longer drain intervals will help us with our warranty protection goals.”

Motor Oil Companies
AMSOIL represented the lone voice for extended drain intervals in America for over 30 years, recommending 25,000 mile/one year drain intervals. While extended oil drain intervals have been common in Europe for years, other American motor oil companies have mostly avoided recommending them, preferring instead to stick with 3000 mile recommended intervals despite the contrasting recommendations of vehicle manufacturers and European motor oil companies.

In fact, Marc Graham, president of Pennzoil-Quaker State-owned Jiffy Lube International, was quoted in a 2001 Lubricants World interview as saying, “At [PQS] we use a number internally that if we [shortened the drain interval] by 100 miles [for each car serviced], it would mean an additional $20 million in revenue for the company.” He also explained that “if we could move our customers to get one more oil change per year, it’s worth $294 million for the oil change alone and $441 million in revenue, when you include the ancillary products and services customers typically buy along with the oil change.”

Today, with vehicle manufacturers recommending longer and longer drain intervals and the increasing use of oil monitoring systems, the practice of extending drain intervals has become more mainstream and forced more motor oil companies to take notice. ExxonMobil, for example, recently introduced a line of long drain motor oils, and other motor oil companies will likely follow. As more motor oil companies begin offering extended drain motor oils, the extended drain interval idea pioneered by AMSOIL in 1972 will become increasingly common.

According to a special report released last May by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), synthetic motor oils are key to extended drain technology: “Extended drain technology is primarily based on the availability of synthetic oils. While the additives in conventional, non-synthetic oils allow them to function longer than the tradition 3,000 miles, it is primarily the synthetic base stocks that allow the oil to last much longer. Synthetic oil offers many advantages in durability versus conventional petroleum oil and it is all based on the synthetic oil’s superior heat and oxidation resistance. Synthetic oil is more accurately controlled at the molecular level and therefore can be engineered to resist the forces in an engine that work against oil durability.”

AMSOIL offers a complete line of premium quality synthetic motor oils formulated for extended drain intervals.

AMSOIL extended intervals WILL NOT void warranties.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the FTC prohibits any manufacturer from voiding warranties by the use of aftermarket parts and maintenance. As long as you follow the particular service life recommendation or use a oil analysis program you are covered. If you are told otherwise by a service department or anyone else, they are simply uninformed and not doing anyone justice. If they insist - please ask for it in writing!

When AMSOIL INC. introduced the first 100 percent synthetic motor oil to pass American Petroleum Institute (API) service requirements in 1972, it set all new standards for quality and performance in the world of automotive lubrication. However AMSOIL synthetic motor oils were ahead of their time. At first, vehicle manufactures and customers did not know what to think. Could this new synthetic motor oil really outperform the petroleum products they had been using all their lives? What followed was a lot of confusion over warranty coverage. Many unsure manufactures and dealers told customers that use of synthetic lubricants could void their vehicle warranties.

The federal Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975, enacted to regulate written consumer product warranties, helped ease consumer concerns over voided warranties. The Magnuson-Moss Act does not require manufacturers to provide a warranty, but sets specific rules when one is provided.

A warranty cannot be voided unless damage has been done and AMSOIL has never been the cause for any damage. Actual coverage policy - AMSOIL and the Magnuson - Moss Warranty Act.

Superior Filtration Leads to Reduced Costs, Extended Equipment Life

Product Tested: Ea Synthetic Nanofiber Oil Filters (EaO)

Overview

A great deal of emphasis is placed on the importance of using of the most advanced high-quality lubricants, but superior filtration is often taken for granted. The general attitude displayed by many consumers is to use whatever is cheapest, even when they’ve invested in superior lubrication. While AMSOIL synthetic motor oils provide unbeatable protection, performance and economy, they require the assistance of filtration. Without filtration, by-products from the combustion process and abrasive materials ingested from the air will ultimately destroy an engine.

Some Contaminants Cause More Damage

The level of damage particles cause to an engine is directly related to the size of the particles. The oil stream within the engine flows between wear-sensitive surfaces that usually have clearances between 2 and 22 microns. It is contaminants in this size range that pose the greatest threat as they can slip between moving components, causing a great deal of wear.

To appreciate how small these particles are, one must first understand the measurements involved in their classification.

A micron, or micrometer (µ), is a very small unit of linear measurement. One micron is equal to one millionth of a meter, and 25 microns is equal to 0.001 inch. To better put this in perspective, consider that the diameter of a human hair is 50 - 70 microns.

Large particles are particles measuring 1/2” or larger. They pose little threat to engines because they are easily removed by the air filter.

Medium particles are particles measuring 25µ to 1/2”. While they are of greater concern than large particles because they are more difficult to remove, the threat they pose is diminished since they are still larger than many of the clearances within an engine. Their size will not allow them to enter the contact areas between many components to promote accelerated wear.

Small particles are particles measuring between 5 and 25µ. Small particles are of greatest concern because they can penetrate the clearances between wear-sensitive components and promote accelerated wear. And, because they are so small, they are difficult to remove from the oil stream.

SAE Testing

In the 1988 Correlating Lube Oil Filtration Efficiencies With Engine Wear technical paper published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the relationship between filtration levels and abrasive engine wear was established. Testing determined that wear was reduced by as much as 70 percent by switching from a 40µ filter to a 15µ filter.

The SAE conducted tests on a heavy-duty diesel engine and an automotive gasoline engine, and both provided consistent results.

New Technology Provides New Options

The SAE paper on filtration discusses the introduction of synthetic fibers into the oil filter market, which offer “the capability of achieving high levels of filtration without the traditional sacrifice of dirt holding capacity and increased flow restriction.” Today, a new pinnacle has been reached with synthetic nanofiber technology and AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters. While today’s filters offer even greater performance, the message then was the same as it is now; removal of particles measuring 2 to 25µ is the key to controlling engine wear, and there is a direct correlation between oil filter efficiency and engine wear.

Test Results

To establish a relationship between levels of filtration and engine wear rates, the SAE used a variety of oil filter types in its tests. Three glass filters and one traditional cellulose-media filter were used in the diesel tests, while one cellulose, one glass and two glass/cellulose-blend filters were used in the gasoline engine tests. The micron rating of each oil filter was determined, and testing was conducted according to SAE guidelines.

The Filter Particle Retention Curves chart on the next page shows the particle retention for each filter tested. The filters were tested at their 98 percent efficiency point and their single pass efficiency curves were determined by comparing the number of particles upstream from the filter with the number of particles downstream. The Engine Wear Rates charts demonstrate the correlation between superior filtration and reduced engine wear. The filters that provided superior efficiency also provided superior engine protection.

Conclusions

The SAE paper summarizes the test results with the following conclusions:

"Abrasive engine wear can be substantially reduced with an increase in filter single pass efficiency. Compared to a 40µ filter, engine wear was reduced by 50% with 30µ filtration. Likewise, wear was reduced by 70% with 15µ filtration."

"Controlling the abrasive contaminants in the range of 2 to 22µ in the lube oil is necessary for controlling engine wear."

"The micron rating of a filter, as established in a single pass efficiency type test, does an excellent job in indicating the filter’s ability to remove abrasive particles in the engine lube oil system."

Today’s Most Advanced Filtration Product

Ea Oil Filters have been evaluated using today’s benchmark test, the ISO 4548-12 multi-pass test. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters provide 98.7 percent efficiency at 15µ and up to 70 percent efficiency at 7µ. Competitive filters range from approximately 85 to 92 percent efficiency at 15µ. When it comes to removing contaminants in the most critical size range (2 to 22µ), AMSOIL Ea Filters greatly outperform competitive filters.

Summary

Even with all of the advances in lubrication and engine technology, filtration is as important today as it ever was. The combustion process produces by-products that slip into the oil stream, and external contaminants are introduced into the engine in a variety of ways. The challenge for filter manufacturers is balancing flow, efficiency and filter life. In order to stop particles in the 2 to 22µ range, the pores in the cellulose media used in many filters are too small to allow adequate oil flow.

Only AMSOIL Ea Oil and Air Filters feature full-synthetic nanofiber technology. It is the nanofibers that allow Ea Filters to provide greater efficiency than any other filter available. Ea Filters stop more particles, stop smaller particles and last longer than any other oil filter available for auto/light truck applications.
